General Information

Banking & Currency

The local currency in Spain is the Euro (EUR). Credit and debit cards are widely accepted throughout Seville, including at hotels, restaurants, shops, and transport hubs. Cashpoints (ATMs) are readily available across the city.

Public Transport Tickets

Seville has an efficient public transport system including buses, trams, and the metro.

Tickets & Payment Options:

  • Single and return tickets can be purchased at metro and tram stations, as well as at authorised kiosks.
  • Bus tickets may be purchased onboard (cash or contactless, depending on the route) or from vending machines.
  • Reloadable travel cards (e.g., Tarjeta Multiviaje) offer reduced fares and can be bought at kiosks and metro stations.
  • Contactless payment is increasingly available across most services.

More information on ticket types and prices can be found on Seville’s public transport website, here.

Electricity

Spain uses 230 volts, 50 Hz AC with Type C and Type F plugs. Visitors from the UK, Ireland, or countries outside Europe will require a suitable plug adapter.

Insurance

Delegates are strongly advised to arrange personal travel insurance, covering medical needs, travel delays, cancellations, and personal belongings, as conference registration does not include insurance coverage.

Climate

Seville has a Mediterranean climate with very warm summers and mild winters.

In June, temperatures are typically high, averaging around 28–32°C (82–90°F), with potential peaks above 35°C (95°F). Evenings are warm, usually around 18–20°C (64–68°F). Rainfall is low, but sunscreen, light clothing, and hydration are strongly recommended.
